En svepask

Regular readers will remember my recent steam bending success where I bent some 4mm hoop pine around a 50mm radius.  I have now managed to complete my first svepask.  A svepask (external link)  literally translates to wrapped (svep) box (ask) and is commonly made from steamed birch and laced with birch root.  Birch root is not commonly available in Melbourne suburbs so I have glued my box using ... surprise, surprise ... epoxy.  The side lugs locate the lid and springiness of the bent box allows the side lugs to be opened and closed creating a simple latching mechanism.

My next svepask will be much thinner wall thickness and hopefully a bit more refined.
