Back at square one

With all that prior experience under my belt it's time to start building a chessboard ... again.  This time I have started by cutting dovetails for a simple box from mountain ash.  I quite enjoy cutting dovetails even if it is a bit time consuming.  I used to struggle marking out dovetails with a square and bevel gauge until I made my dovetail gauge from 2mm aluminium angle which is much easier.  After reading the Oregon Woodworker post about using masking tape to assist in layout I am happy to report another step forward in cutting dovetails.  I have always struggled seeing the layout lines against the wood grain but adding masking tape makes the process much easier.
